From 5 November to 4 December 2020, the Association Rondine Cittadella della Pace implemented the project “Preserving Cultural Heritage”. The project brought together 20 experts in cultural heritage, museology or related professions under the age of 45 from conflict-affected communities in South Caucasus to train them in the basics of cultural heritage conservation, including during times of conflict and as a part of the conflict management process.
The project took place online due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Preserving Cultural Heritage has supported a peaceful settlement of the conflict by bringing together in a virtual space young professionals from across the divide to equip them with basic academic and technical skills to intervene effectively in order to protect cultural heritage during conflicts and to integrate the protection of cultural heritage into the conflict management and recovery processes. In addition, joint activities have laid the foundation for trust and co-operation between divided communities.
Rondine Cittadella della Pace is an organization committed to reducing armed conflict around the world and promoting a unique method for the creative transformation of conflicts in every context. Its goal is a planet free of armed clashes, in which every person has the tools to manage conflicts in a creative and positive way.

Campus “Preserving Cultural Heritage” gave the huge information concerning the preservation of cultural heritage in conflict areas. The high qualified professionals presented the number of interesting, successful and really effective projects that gave the possibility to get better idea of best international practices in this field and increased motivation to do more in this direction.
