A series of live streaming meetings between Ambassadors and Rondine students on the topic of youth leadership in the post-pandemic world.
The initiative is promoted within the global “Leaders for Peace” campaign
The first meeting is dedicated to the Americas, Friday 15 May 2020 at 18.00, live on the Facebook pages of Rondine (IT) and Rondine International Peace Lab (EN)
We are witnessing a renewed need for leadership in the light of a globalized world unable to manage itself while facing the great crises of this beginning of the millennium: from the climatic-environmental one to the current one deriving from a very high transmission pandemic, potentially capable of extirpating human life from the planet if the states are not guided by prepared and attentive leaders. In this context, Rondine relaunches the global Leaders for Peace campaign through a new digital diplomacy initiative making its Method available to the world and to the future leaders.
“Rondine World Room” will be a cycle of live streaming meetings that will see Rondine’s ambassadors and students tackling highly topical issues related to the practice of youth leadership in the post-pandemic world. These are discussion tables organized by geographical areas that intend to return a global analysis, anticipating the new conflicts that are emerging at a political, social, and economic level and identifying new ways to transform them creatively. The first three meetings, dedicated in order to Central and South America, the Mediterranean, and Europe, will be held weekly every Friday at 18 and will be streamed on the Facebook pages of Rondine (IT) and Rondine International Peace Lab (EN).
The “Rondine World Room No. 1” dedicated to the Americas, will be held on Friday 15 May 2020 from 18.00 to 19.00 CEST and will see the participation of H.E. Gloria Isabel Ramirez Rios, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Italy, and H.E. Carlos Eugenio García De Alba Zepeda, Ambassador of the Mexican United States to Italy. The ambassadors will interact with two students from Rondine World House, Alexandre, Georgian, and Yanine, Colombian. Furthermore, an alumnus from Rondine, now a member of Rondine International Peace Lab, Abu Bakar Tony Kamara, from Sierra Leone will also intervene. The meeting will be moderated by Giampiero Gramaglia, journalist, Istituto Affari Internazionali.
The Leaders for Peace campaign, launched by Rondine at the end of 2018 and today in its second year of activities, asks all 193 UN member states to invest in a new, young peace leadership through the support to scholarships for promising young people and, at the same time, to include the teaching of human rights in their national school curricula with the help and support of the Rondine Method. In May 2020 the campaign sees the official support of the Italian government, the moral endorsement of the President of the Italian Republic and the Holy Father, and boasts a series of international supporters for its high-level events such as Jordan, Armenia, Sierra Leone, the European Union, as well as important statements of affinity from other countries and international institutions. The ongoing Covid19 pandemic does not stop the campaign, which on the contrary finds new operational and meaningful tools that draw on digital diplomacy.
